What is the Warm Homes Scheme? 

The Warm Homes Scheme is funded by the Department for Social Development to make your home warmer, healthier and more energy-efficient.  The Warm Homes Scheme is for people who receive certain benefits (listed below) and own their home or rent it from a private landlord. 

Warm Homes Scheme Measures 

There are two levels of help available - Warm Homes and Warm Homes Plus.  Warm Homes- offers a range of insulation measures to householders on a qualifying benefit. Warm Homes Plus - offers insulation and heating measures to householders in receipt of a qualifying benefit (listed below) and who are identified through the assessment process to have Economy 7, Solid Fuel, bottled gas/LPG system or no system at all. 

Warm Homes:

Under Warm Homes, you may be able to receive the following help
  • Cavity Wall Insulation
  • Loft Insulation
  • Hot-water-tank jacket
  • Benefit Entitlement Check
  • Energy Advice 

Warm Homes Plus: 

As well as the improvements available under Warm Homes, householders who are in receipt of one of the benefits listed may also be eligible for:
  • Installation of a fully controlled energy-efficient oil or gas central heating system where no system currently exists.
  • Conversion of an existing bottled gas (LPG), solid fuel or Economy 7 heating system to oil or natural gas.
(If you live in an area where Natural Gas is available then that will be the fuel of choice.)

Do I qualify for the Warm Homes Scheme?

Unfortunately under the Warm Homes Scheme/ Warm Homes Scheme Plus we cannot provide this service to Northern Ireland Housing Executive and Housing Association Tenants.   These tenants should contact their respective landlords.  

Warm Homes 

Householders of any age in receipt of one or more of the following benefits may qualify for the Warm Homes Scheme
  • Income Support
  • Income Related Employment Support Allowance
  • Income Based Job Seeker's Allowance
  • Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (with NHS exemption certificate)
  • Working Tax Credit
  • Disability Living Allowance
  • Attendance Allowance
  • Housing Benefit
  • Rate Rebate

Warm Homes Plus

Householders of any age in receipt of one or more of the following benefits and who are identified through assessment to have Solid Fuel, Economy 7, Bottled Gas system (LPG) or no system at all may qualify for Warm Homes Plus Scheme.
 
  • Housing Benefit 
  • Rate Rebate
  • Income Support
  • Income Related Employment Support Allowance
  • Income Based Job Seekers Allowance
  • Pension Credit
  • Working Tax Credit

The Warm Homes Scheme provides a free service to all applicants to ensure that you are receiving all the benefits that you are entitled to. To avail of this service please tick yes on the application form.
